SEPTEMBER 7 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PSALM 27
Fear is always paralyzing...it literally takes us out of the game. So often people sit on the bench of life because of fear and are more concerned with the "what ifs" of what could happen, rather than stepping out in faith and experiencing life. I watched a video clip of Steve Harvey speaking to the audience at a taping of Family Feud. He talked about people never reaching their God-given potential because they are too fearful. His advice was to jump. He said if we jump and trust God, the parachute would open...because God will not let you down, He wants you to experience the fullness of the life He has for you. Life is too short to settle for good, because of fear, when we have been given God's best.
One of the things that we all need to realize when we get caught up in the fear of what could happen if we step out in faith...is that the safest place for us to be is right where God is leading us. Fear causes us to look at all the things that could go wrong...we have a tendency to focus on these things. But what about all the wonderful things that could go right? Someone might say, “but I might fail"...well you would be in good company. Listen, everyone who ever did anything significant, failed at some point. And for we Christians, we need to learn that we can never and I mean never, fail when we are responding to the leadership of the Lord by faith. Today, don't let the fear of failure, or the fear of anything else, stand in the way of you missing the great purpose for your existence, and that is to glorify God!
