SEPTEMBER 28 READING…JEREMIAH 5-6 & PSALM 14 & 1 THESSALONIANS 3
No one needs to defend the Lord…for that matter who could? Jeremiah was instructing the people that God is just, and that any judgment or punishment He brought on them was deserved. But, the people would not listen to the prophet. Through Jeremiah, God even told them how their destruction would come...but they acted like there was no God to be concerned with. The Psalmist said, “It is the fool who says in their heart that there is no God.” These people are godless, corrupt, and have done abominable works. He reminds them that our salvation is not found in self, or by our good deeds, for there is no one that does good…no not one! Paul reminds us that being a follower of Jesus is not always easy. Sometimes we get conflict from the world, sometimes from the religious community, and then sometimes it is inner conflict. Timothy encouraged Paul, and we need to encourage each other. In this world we should all be the biggest cheerleaders for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Lift each other up, carry each other’s burdens, love one another.
