OCTOBER 22 READING…DANIEL 3-4 & JAMES 1
Have you ever considered the impact of your walk of faith on others…especially those who do not know the Lord? The three Hebrew young men stood for the Lord, even though it meant their lives. Here is what we need to remember…everyone who has ever been thrown into a very hot fire has been burned to death. These young had no reason to believe it would be any different for them. But, it is clear that they kept their eyes on the Lord, not on the danger. Their declaration of faith is a tremendous example to us. Our God is able to deliver us, but even if He chooses not to deliver us…He is still God. When you have faith like that you never need to come to the table of compromise with the enemies of God…you just stand in the Lord, no matter what. God chose to deliver these young men, and God used this occasion to show Himself to King Nebuchadnezzar. Then God sends Nebuchadnezzar a dream, which he ignores…and in his pride he is brought down. Even to the place where he is like an animal…until the day he acknowledges that only God is God. In James we are reminded that we are all tempted to sin, and when we give into that temptation it leads to sin, which brings death. We are never tempted by God, for He does not tempt us to sin…ever. God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift…there is no variation of good and bad with God. He has called us to give us His Word that we might walk in genuine faith. Our walk reveals whether or not we are a people of faith.
