MAY 5 READING…JUDGES 3-4 & PSALM 20
The Lord is faithful to save His people according to His good Name, and by His mighty hand. Israel is in the land, and because they were disobedient to the Lord concerning driving the ungodly people out of the land, they are dealing with the consequences of their disobedience…some dire. Israel has no king, for the Lord was to be their King…they were created a theocracy. The Lord raised up judges to guide and protect the people. While these judges ruled the people followed the Lord…but when they died, they people did what was right in their own eyes, moving again into disobedience. God even raised the judges up to take care of the most evil inhabitants of the land and their armies…the Lord did this through Deborah. In Psalms we are reminded that our God is a saving God. This is crucial, for we are a people in need of being saved. By His Name and by His power the Lord saved Israel…and by His Name and by His power He saves us!
