MAY 29 READING…2 SAMUEL 7-9 & PSALM 21
God is a God who keeps His promises (covenants). Some of His covenants are unconditional and unbreakable…like His covenants with Noah, Abraham, and the new covenant in Christ. Some of His covenants are conditional…like His covenant with Moses, and now with David. These covenants required God’s people to do something in order to receive the promises there in. They must keep the Lord’s commands, they must worship only God. David’s covenant is very specific as God promised to always be with him, even if he does wrong…God would chastise him, but never leave him. In the Psalms and in 2 Samuel, David rejoices and praises God for all His promises. God further blesses David with victories, and gives him complete rule over all of Israel. God has a covenant with we who have trusted in Jesus…like David, God promises to never leave us…but, also like David, God will chastise us when we are disobedient.
