MAY 22, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

MAY 22 READING…1 SAMUEL 20-22 & PSALM 52

How far will rage and jealousy take a person? When a person is far from God, and is letting their emotions drive them, what are they capable of? If the story of Saul teaches us anything, it should remind us how important it is for us to stay close to the Lord, to obey Him, and to follow Him in all things. Saul hated David so much that he used his son, deceit, and even the murder of the priest to satisfy his hatred. Saul had fallen from a very high place…the king of Israel to a mad man who had lost control of not only his kingdom, but also his own household. In Psalm, David expresses his faith in the Lord, knowing that the Lord would one day make all things right. Again, David was on the run for his life, but he knew the Lord was on his side, and would avenge him. Sometimes life looks like it is going to crush us, and we wonder if there is a place of safety. The Lord has promised that place, not just in this world, but ultimately in eternity. We don’t know what God’s plan is for our life here on this earth, but we can know that we are eternally secure in the Lord, when we put our trust in Jesus as Savior. Life can certainly be hard, and unfair…but the Lord has us in His hand, and there is no safer place for us to be. Let me encourage each of you…live life like you are living in God’s hand, because that is exactly where you reside.

Please share your thoughts.
