MARCH 30 READING…DEUTERONOMY 3 & PSALM 133 & JOHN 20
Today’s theme is…”the victory belongs to the Lord!” In Deuteronomy 3 we see God giving victory to the Israelites over Og, king of Bashan. Here the words of the Lord, “Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hands…” In Psalm 133 there is great praise to the God of victory, as the psalmist declares that the Lord commands the blessing over His people…that blessing, “life forevermore”! John 20 gives us the narrative of the greatest display of the fact that the victory belongs to the Lord, in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The last battle we have as human beings is death. It is a battle we have no hope of winning on our own. So, what we could not do, God did, by the Resurrection of Jesus. Jesus won the victory over sin, death, and hell, once and for all, for all who believe in Him. In John 20 Jesus appears three times confirming his victory over death. First to Mary Magdalene…second to the disciples without Thomas being present…lastly, He appeared to the disciples again, this time Thomas was present. John tells us that he wrote this Gospel that we might know that in Jesus we have the promise of eternal life…and we have that because Jesus won the victory over death for us!
