MARCH 12 READING…LUKE 8
We live in world where the term Christian has lost any real meaning. There are those who claim to be Christian who do not believe in the Resurrection of Jesus, His substitutionary atonement, that He is the Son of God, and that He is the only way to salvation. There are also those who are telling people that you can be a Christian and live anyway you like. Your “lifestyle” is for you to choose, and God is okay with whatever you choose. God accepts everybody in these people’s world. The problem is that this is a lie. God is not about tolerance of anything and everything…and He will only accept those who come to Him by faith in Jesus, there is no other way. Jesus said that those who are in His family are those who do the will of His Father. In other words, God decides how anyone comes to Him and how they are to live…that is not for us to decide. We are required to submit to God’s way to salvation, not come up with our own. Jesus gave the parable of the seed concerning the word of the Lord going out to people and how they received it. Just hearing is never enough for being right with God…for being a Christian. We must hear and obey…our life must be changed. For though Jesus finds us where we are, and the Holy Spirit calls us where we are…the Lord never leaves us where we are. Just as Jesus cast the demons out of the man of Gadara, He never leaves us as we were when we were lost…He gives us a whole new life. Jesus demonstrates over and over again that He has the authority to save us and to change us. He cast our demons…He healed the woman with an issue of blood for 12 years…He raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead…and He did so many more miracles revealing He is the Son of God.
