JUNE 28 READING…2 KINGS 9 & MARK 9
When the prophet of God speaks, he reveals the will and plan of the Lord. Prior to his death Elijah prophesied the total annihilation of the house of Ahab, and that Jezebel would be eaten by the dogs and never buried. God raised us Jehu as the king of Israel, and used him to kill Joram and Ahaziah, both evil kings of Israel and Judah. And then Jehu entered Jezreel, where Jezebel was, and entreated those in her home as to who was on his side…three eunuchs responded that they were, and in obedience to his instructions threw Jezebel out of the window to her death, where the dogs ate her. This was the word of the Lord through the prophet Elijah…when God reveals His word, we must listen. In Mark, we again have a wonderful revelation of God. Jesus, along with Peter, James, and John, are on a mountain. When all of the sudden Moses and Elijah appear, standing next to Jesus. Peter thought this would be a great time to venerate Moses and Elijah along with Jesus. The voice of the Lord spoke to reveal a great eternal truth…that Jesus, alone, is the Son of God. Jesus is who all things are all about. Moses and Elijah lived and served to reveal Jesus…now that Jesus was there, all were to hear Him. All Scripture has been given to us to reveal Jesus…all faithful men and women of God existed to reveal Jesus…we exist as the people of God to reveal Jesus.
