JUNE 19, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

JUNE 19 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: GALATIANS 2:17-21

The Bible says we are the "righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” We are this because we are clothed in His righteousness...we don't stand in our righteousness but His. Paul tells us that in our flesh, nothing good dwells. Apart from who we are in Christ, there is nothing good in us...and apart from Christ; we could never be accepted of God.

Here is the folly of religion...that somehow, we could be good enough or do enough to make ourselves acceptable to God. We humans want to be able to take credit for our accomplishments and for our goodness. Yet the Bible says there is none that are good, no not one. And that apart from Christ we can do nothing. Everything we are as believers is found in Christ. Everything we do of eternal value is because Christ lives in us. No room to brag for us, for our very lives in all things point to Jesus!

It is all by the grace of God, not only to bring us to salvation, but that grace continues to work in us as His followers. Following Jesus and keeping this law of God cannot happen merely by the will of our flesh. God in His grace has given us His Son who conquered death and now works in us to fulfill all His righteousness in the way we live our lives.
