JULY 4 READING…2 KINGS 17 & MARK 15
The end result of a nation who rejects God is it’s destruction. On this day when our nation celebrates its independence, and its founding under a faith in God…the Lord is either forgotten or outright rejected. We have ignored the warning given to Israel, and for that matter, every great nation that has ever existed. Israel falls to Assyria, and their fall is so great that they would never be re-established. Our country is headed to a self-imposed destruction…but we who continue to follow God must stay the course. The price of our freedom was too great…for our nation, and for each born again believer. Mark reminds us of the high cost of our eternal freedom…the death of Jesus on the cross. I pray daily that the church would not become like Old Testament Israel, or like our own unbelieving nation. We must never forget our God, we must worship and serve Him only. Sadly, some churches have already rejected God, and they are bringing eternal destruction upon themselves.
