JULY 17 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: REVELATION 2:18-29

There is great pressure today to make the church an all inclusive place. While this initially sounds good, it actually is killing the church. The church was ordained to be a distinct and different group from those found in the world. We believe we have the eternal Word of God...so why would that change or evolve? We have one gospel...so why would we compromise in saying all can get to heaven their own way? We have been called to be His holy and blameless bride...so why would we involve ourselves in that which is ungodly and unacceptable in His sight? The church has one door, that's Jesus, if you don't come by Him, then you don't get in.

Some would say, "then you are not being loving...you should just tell people anything and everything is okay...you should tell them they can come to God anyway they sincerely want to come." It is crazy, that we live in such a time where lying to people, even to their own destruction, has now become loving. There is nothing loving in refusing to share the eternal truth with people, in order to fit in, only to see those people die in their sin and spend eternity in hell. The push today is to have the church become relevant...we need to be careful that in this quest we don't change so much that we become just like the world and become irrelevant!
