FEBRUARY 11 DEVOTION BIBLE READING: DEUTERONOMY 6:4-9
It's the people inside the walls of our home that know us best. They know all our faults and they know are strengths. They know what is important to us and they know what we care little about. They know our priorities...they know what place we give to work...they know what place we give to family...they know what place we give to God. Our spouses and our children know the real us!
If we desire for our children to have the best possible opportunity to know and love God, they need to see us knowing and loving God. It will not happen once or twice a week in the church house...it needs to happen seven days a week in our homes. It's possible to fool people we have a casual relationship with...but those who live under the same roof with us know us and know if we have a genuine walk of faith with the Lord. The Lord spoke to Israel about the nurture of their children in His ways in what is called the "Shema." He commanded the parents to daily be involved in teaching and living before their children in the truth of God. When they got up...as they lived their day; in their laying down...write it on the doorpost...put it right before your eyes. There was no doubt in these observant homes what was the priority...and there should be no doubt in our homes Who is the priority!
