DECEMBER 24 READING…ISAIAH 42-44 & REVELATION 15
Isaiah 42 is one of those chapters that reveals tremendous truth to us. Certainly, there is the prophetic message, but this chapter contains a powerful theological message. In this Old Testament chapter we are given the clear teaching of the Trinity. Those who reject biblical truth will tell you that the word “Trinity” is not in the Bible…they are right, but the concept and the teaching of the Trinity is all throughout the Bible. This is important, and it is important that we understand the Trinity, with all the variant erroneous teachings, found even in the church. The Trinity simply put is that there is only one God, who is three persons. There really is nothing simple about the Trinity, only God could do such a thing. The Trinity teaches that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. It also teaches that the Father is not the Son or Holy Spirit…the Son is not the Father or the Holy Spirit…and the Holy Spirit is not the Father or the Son…three Persons, one God. In Isaiah 42, God the Father is referred to…God the Son is called the Chose/elect One…and the Holy Spirit is referred to. Revelation 15, is a short chapter, that is a pause that happens in heaven while earth waits for the final series of judgments, the bowl judgments begin. This is the last pause before God brings His final and complete judgment on a world that has rejected Him and blasphemed His Name.
