DECEMBER 13 READING…REVELATION 12
Chapter 12 is a wide sweeping chapter containing many events happening in both the heavens and on earth. It opens with the image of a woman with the sun, the moon, and twelve stars around her head. According to Joseph’s dream in Genesis 37, this woman represents Israel. For from Israel comes the Messiah. There is another sign in the heavens of a great dragon who with his tail sweeps 1/3 of the stars from the sky. This represents the fall of Satan, who when he rebelled took 1/3 of the angels with him. The next scene revealed to us is the dragon trying to devour the child of the woman at birth, remember what happened at Bethlehem. Then the Messiah is caught up to heaven (Christ’s ascension), so the dragon turns its rage on the woman(Israel). Satan is thrown out of heaven and continually attempts to destroy the followers of God, who have trusted in Messiah. But they were able to overcome him by the blood of Jesus, by their testimony of faith, and by being unafraid, even to death. At the end of time the dragon (Satan) goes full force against the woman (Israel) in an attempt to destroy her, and make God’s covenant promises meaningless…he will fail. A horrible time is coming…Satan knows his time is short…stay in Christ my brothers and sisters.
