AUGUST 26 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: ROMANS 4:5-8
Blessed is the man to whom God will NOT impute sin.” I love that verse...you want to know why? Because I sin...I sin in thought...I sin in speech...I sin in deed. Even though I am a born-again child of God and I don't want to commit these sins, I still do...and so do you! When I say I sin, I say that is what I am guilty of, but that is not who I am any longer. For God has made His own dear child. He has made me His righteousness in Christ Jesus. He has taken me out of the kingdom of darkness and brought me into the Kingdom of His marvelous light...He has forgiven me of all sin and remembers those sins no more. He has given me His Holy Spirit who is the "guarantee" of my eternal salvation. He has imputed to me His righteousness.
In the verse above Paul tells us that in Christ we are blessed because God will not impute sin to us (we who are His children), ever again. On the cross our sin was imputed to Christ, He took it upon Himself and bore the full wrath of God to pay the price for our sin. That sacrifice was the last one ever needed, for the Father accepted it as payment in full for our sins. Jesus left nothing undone on Calvary...He suffered and died as our substitutionary atonement. He took our place, "He who knew no sin, became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." His righteousness is complete...it's perfect...it's eternal! Never again will those who have put their trust in Christ as Savior and Lord have sin imputed to them. What a great promise! Can you see why I love the verse..."Blessed is the man to whom God will NOT impute sin." I'm one of those men, not because I'm good, or holy, or righteous in myself...but because Jesus died for my sin, took it away from me and gave me His righteousness. I hope that is your testimony of faith...if not I would sure like to talk to you about it.
Please share your thoughts.
