AUGUST 22 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PHILIPPIANS 3:12-16

Today is God's gift to you and me. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come. The truth is that too many times we waste our joy by regretting yesterday and fearing tomorrow. When we live in the past or are consumed by the future we miss the blessings of today. Today is the only day you and I can live in and be right where God has called us to be. Paul tells us to, "forget those things of the past and press on..." Jesus tells us to, "not worry about tomorrow..."

The great thing about our Savior is that He has both yesterday and tomorrow. In Him we can dispense with the regrets of yesterday...failure, being hurt, not being forgiven and and not forgiving, loss, etc. It's not that they didn't happen, or that they didn't affect our lives, it is that they should not rule our lives and we should not live back there. In Him we have the promise of eternity, so we should not let the fear of tomorrow incapacitate us. Think about it, if He has your eternity, He certainly has tomorrow.

Today is God's gift to you and me, let's enjoy His gift, let's share His gift, let’s not miss His gift by being stuck in yesterday or fearful about tomorrow. CARPE DIEM...in Jesus!
