APRIL 9, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

APRIL 9 READING…JOHN 4

To whom did Jesus come to be Savior? Is Jesus the Messiah of Israel only, or did He come to be the Messiah for all people? Once the Gentiles received Jesus and the Jewish nation as a whole rejected Jesus, did the Lord change His plan and become the Savior for the Gentiles only? In yesterday’s reading Jesus explained salvation to a pious Jewish Rabbi leader name Nicodemus. In today’s reading John records for us Jesus sharing the same hope of salvation to a Samaritan woman with a questionable moral life. In these two chapters we have revealed for us the work of Jesus to be the Savior of all mankind. Jesus does not have two or more groups of followers. There is not a Jewish church, a Gentile church, an eastern mystic church, or a Muslim church. There is only one church, and Jesus is the only Way to enter the church, that is Jesus. If anyone wants to have the gift of salvation, whether they be Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, or any other group, they must come through Jesus. Jesus knows us and He knows where we are spiritually, and all that we have done. He showed this as He spoke to the woman at the well. When she wanted to talk about religion and the difference between the Jewish religion as compared to the Samaritan religion, Jesus moves the talk to the need for all to come to Him to receive eternal life. As it was then, it remains today…religion cannot save you. Only Jesus, and Jesus alone, can bring the gift of salvation to all people. And He came to save all people, who will put their faith and trust in Him.
