APRIL 7, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

APRIL 7 READING…DEUTERONOMY 17-18 & PROVERBS 7

Appropriately our reading in Deuteronomy deals with the proper kind of sacrifice accepted by God, and in Deuteronomy and Proverbs we are reminded of why the sacrifice is needed. The reason for the sacrifice…sin. It is important for us to understand that both the sacrifice, and the way it is sacrificed, is determined by God…not us. The Old Testament law instructed God’s people about what sacrifice was to be brought for which sins…and how the sacrifice was to be presented to God. The sacrifice for sin was always given to God, for He is holy, just, and righteous. Our sin requires payment…it would not be so if we would not sin, but sinning is what we all are guilty of. Jesus was the acceptable sacrifice to God the Father for our sins. He was the only one who met God’s exact and perfect requirements to be the sacrifice. And though He was perfect and without sin, He suffered in our place because of our sin. He was the sacrifice to The Holy God…and because He was, our sin has been paid for in full.
