APRIL 19 READING…JOHN 12
It’s time for Jesus to move toward the cross…it was for this purpose He came. Jesus did not make a mistake by going into Jerusalem…He went there at the appointed time. With God nothing happens by coincidence. Jesus had dinner with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha in Bethany…there He is anointed in preparation for what was about to come. Jesus then enters Jerusalem to the accolades of the crowds. Jesus once again tells His disciples that He is going to be crucified, and even quotes the Prophet Isaiah’s message about what was about to happen…Isaiah spoke these words 700 years earlier. Jesus declares that He is the light of the world…and those who believe in Him will have everlasting life. Jesus came to do for us what we could not do for ourselves…He paid the price for our sins, so that we could be right with God. His willingness to do this for us meant He would go to the cross…He knew this, but He did it anyway…now that is love.
