SEPTEMBER 7 READING…PHILIPPIANS 4
This is such a wonderful chapter, filled with verses that the Lord has used to blessings our lives with His encouragement. Paul tells us to rejoice in the Lord always, and again rejoice. This joy is not determined by circumstances, but by the presence of the Lord. Paul reminds us the we are not to worry, for as Jesus said, what can our worry change. Paul instructs rather to pray and petition the Lord, with thanksgiving we are to make our requests..and the peace of God which surpasses all human understanding will guard our hearts and minds.
With all the horrible things that go on in the world our minds could become consumed by them, and they be all we think about. Paul tells us to think on what is just, pure, lovely, and commendable…things of moral excellence and praise worthy. Paul then gives us the understanding of being content in the Lord, whether we have much or little. Then we come to that wonderful promise verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” It’s all through Christ, and Christ alone. Finally, Paul closes this letter by telling us that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. All our needs…and He perfectly knows what we need.
