SEPTEMBER 29 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Psalm 19
I heard someone say once that the word BUSY stood for, BEING UNDER SATAN'S YOKE. Sometimes we mistake being busy, even in the church, for spending time with Jesus. Being busy for Jesus does not equate to spending time with Jesus. It is certain that there is much to do and there are times when all of our schedules get filled to the max. It is then that we have to intentionally set aside that time to spend with our Lord. We have this same thing with our spouses and families. The world does not always let us have time every day, but we need to make sure that there is time for real relationships and not just an existence.
In Jesus' ministry we see that there were times that He had to get away from the crowds, the teaching, the work and just spend some time with His Father. This was so important to Him. And even right before He was to do His greatest work for us, in going to the cross, first He spent intimate time with His Father. Work is important...but relationships are more important. I say that because it really is the relationships that make the work meaningful...not the other way around. As our lives get so busy every day, let's not forget to take time to spend with those we love most...our Lord, our spouse, our children, our grandchildren, our friends. It is really what life is all about!
