SEPTEMBER 25, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

SEPTEMBER 25 READING…HABAKKUK 1-3 & PHILIPPIANS 4

Every Old Testament prophet had a very difficult task…but Habakkuk was called to prophesy at a horrible time. The prophet had to watch a nation die. He was called to speak for God when there would be no reprieve. The nation of Judah had gone too far in their idolatry, and everything had become totally corrupt. Their governmental leaders were totally corrupt and self-serving. The rich were abusing the poor, the widows, and the orphans. The religious leaders were lost and far away from God…so they were leading the people to be lost and far away from God. Does any of this sound familiar? Our country, yes even the world, is headed for judgment because of its corruption at every level…and it’s complete rejection of God. Habakkuk, loved the Lord, and he lamented the coming judgment, but he kept his trust on the Lord in the midst of it…I pray we will too. Though everything perish…I will trust the Lord…He is the joy of my salvation. In Philippians, Paul reminds us to rejoice in the Lord always…to be anxious for nothing…to focus on what is good, right, and from God…that we can do all things in Christ…and that God shall supply all our needs. We need these truths as the world crumbles around us, and spirals headlong into the judgment of God.
