SEPTEMBER 21 READING…ZECHARIAH 9-11 & ROMANS 16
Be careful of “shepherds” in sheep clothing. False pastors posing as the real thing. God had promised rescue of Israel…He would defend them, and He would save them. And after that Zechariah tells them that false shepherds (shepherd and pastor are synonymous) will come only to fatten the flock for slaughter. The people will continue to follow these false shepherds, so the Lord will give them what they want. These false shepherds will become the norm for Israel, the people will follow, and they will be led to their destruction. In the last chapter of Romans, Paul tells us to mark those who cause divisions by their teaching of false doctrine, and then to avoid these false teachers. They are not servants of the Lord, but of their own prosperity and greed. They use smooth words, and enticing displays to gain people’s alliance, and then just like the false shepherds Zechariah spoke of, they lead the people to destruction…sadly, some to eternal destruction. We live in a time when these false pastors are prevalent and people are following them and their false teachings by the tens of thousands. Sadly, these people think they are getting truth from heaven, but are actually receiving the doctrines of demons.
