SEPTEMBER 2 READING…JOB 20-21 & COLOSSIANS 1
If we are not careful our belief system, our theology, becomes merely theoretical. It is easy to pontificate about great ideas that are unattainable. The Scripture, though filled with the greatness of God and His wisdom, was never meant to be theoretical. The Bible is meant to be both personal and practical. It’s truths are meant to be applied in our lives. Job’s friends believed they had great wisdom concerning why Job was experiencing such trouble…the problem is that wisdom only found in words is not wisdom. Wisdom is the proper, or biblical, application of truth. Our words can encourage people to step into wisdom, or they can be used to leave someone hopeless. We are told in Colossians that Jesus is preeminent in all things. He created all things, He is the image of God, and all things consist and existing Him. Yet, He she’d His blood to redeem we sinners. The Gospel, and Jesus’ sacrifice, where not theoretical…they were actual. We are called to live our lives in the actual of the Scriptures.
