SEPTEMBER 17 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Philippians 4:6-7

We have all found ourselves consumed with worry over one thing or another...and if we are honest we would have to admit that our worry did not change or help the situation one bit. Worry consumes or time and our energy, it gets us off track in being able to hear God and even trust Him. Worry can lead us to trying to take control of the situation and heading off without God and trying to "fix it" on our own. This is why we are told not to worry, because it is a denial of biblical faith. Worry not only affects our spiritual walk it can affect us mentally and physically. Worry takes our mind to places it ought not to go and unfettered worry can even lead to physical sickness.

The Scripture calls us to trust in the Lord always...to have faith in God...to rest in Jesus who is our Sabbath. These acts on our part demonstrate that we have put our lives and everything in them into His hands. We recognize that we really have no say over the circumstances of life, but faith tells us that's okay, because the Lord does. And who better than the Creator of the universe, God Almighty, to give all of life’s situations, worries and issues...for He is able to handle them. Not only is He able, but He wants us to do this. The Scripture says, "Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you." He really does love us and cares for us, in both the good times and the bad and not a thing gets past Him, ever!

Let's try it today...when that worry starts to happen, STOP and say, "Not today, I'm going to give this to God and trust Him!"
