SEPTEMBER 15 READING…1 THESSALONIANS 2

The second chapter of 1 Thessalonians is a special expression of Paul’s love for the church at Thessalonica, which God used him to found. Paul just wanted to be faithful in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with the intent to please God rather than men. Paul was not about using flattering and fancy words to persuade people…nor was there the ulterior motive of desires for himself. His approach to this church, that he loved, was done in three ways in this section of Scripture. First, as a mother who cherishes her own children…with great affection. Second, like a father…who exhorts, comforts, and charges his children. Then like a brother…who walks beside his brothers and sisters as they face the difficulty of being followers of Jesus Christ.

Paul let the church know that he had many times desired to be with them, but had been taken away from them. He continued to desire to see them face to face. Satan had been hindering him from being with them from returning to them. He reminded them of the great hope, joy, and crown of rejoicing was being able to fellowship with them. Paul told them that they were his glory and joy.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
