SEPTEMBER 12 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Ephesians 5:15-20

We are locked on a line called time. We got on this line at our conception and we will leave it at death. Time moves only one way and when it passes it can never be renewed..."today is the only day you have today!" One of the wonderful things about Facebook is the ability to reconnect with friends from days gone by. It is great to reminisce of memories and even put up old pictures...but those days are gone and even if we wanted to we can never return to them. This year my high school class is celebrating at a 40-year reunion where memories will be shared and old acquaintances will be renewed, but once again we can't literally go back in time. I look at my grown kids and think of when they were little...I remember those days with great love, but they won't ever be little again.

I say all this not to make anyone sad...that is just the way time works. It is part of God's plan. All of those experiences and even the wonderful memories; are God's gift to us. The journey of life is also God's gift to us. And today is God's gift to us. We need to grab today and use it for all it’s worth; for once gone it can never be recaptured. We can't live today in regret, in unforgiveness, in wishing life was something more than it is. We must see today as God's gift to us and live it to the fullest. Today we can make a difference in the lives of others, we can love, we can care and we can share the good news that Jesus loves them and died for them. We can be thankful to our Heavenly Father for the gift of today by receiving it and using it for the reason He gave it. Don't let time be your enemy...take it, use it while you can, live with no regrets of wasting it!
