OCTOBER 4, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

OCTOBER 4 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Psalm 138

The Bible was not written to the intellectual elite, but to you and me. The Scripture has a clear message to us from God and we need to be very careful that we don't parse it and dissect it to death. There are those who have turned the Bible into a mysterious book that only those who have the proper degrees and enlightenment can understand and share with we unenlightened. Be careful of those promoted hidden codes that only they can see, telling you that the Bible's message is too deep for the common people, so you need them to be your teacher, especially those who tell you the Bible doesn't really say what it clearly says, so they are there to correct it for you.

God is the author of the Scripture and He has chosen to write it to us...to reveal His truth and plan. The Scripture is not filled with mysterious hidden messages, but with God's clear message to His people. We have as our teacher of the Word the Holy Spirit...the same Spirit that brought us to salvation. He is our perfect teacher. Now He uses many different ways to teach us, even through others whom He has gifted to teach, but they are not the final authority in your life...the Holy Spirit is. God is ever revealing Himself to us...He is not hiding. He is not trying to make following Him and receiving His Word so difficult that only those few chosen elite can do it, but He is speaking His eternal truth into the life of all His children. It is true it takes discipline, study and time with the Lord and His Word...but if we do that, He promises that He will meet us there and teach all the things He has for us in that moment. I for one am so grateful that the Lord chooses to reveal the deep things to we who are the simple minded through His Spirit, for if He did not we could not truly have a relationship with Him!
