OCTOBER 24, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

OCTOBER 24 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Psalm 127

Parents are God's primary plan for the raising of children. It is the parent's place to teach their children about the Lord and what it means to follow Him. It is by design that God intends for this to happen...it is not the church's place to raise the children. The church is there to assist, encourage, equip and come along side the parents as they take the responsibility of the spiritual nurturing of their children. God's intent for marriage and children who come from that marriage is that they produce a next generation that is godly. Our children are our primary mission field. If we are going to witness to anyone in the entire world, it must be our children. They will see the reality of our faith not only in what we say, but in how we live our lives before them. They will know if we are genuine or not.

It is a sad thing today that so many see their own children as a burden rather than a blessing. Many times they are put on the back burner of our priorities, rather than being the foremost priority of our lives. Sadly, I see parents who just pawn off their kids and put it on others to raise them, to teach them, to provide for them, to tell them about Jesus. It is true that we all need help and that is what extended family and the church family is all about. But we cannot neglect our responsibility as parents and let others raise our children and be responsible for their spiritual nurturing. Parenting is work...it takes patience, love and endurance, but it is the most rewarding work of our life. God has blessed we parents with these precious souls...they are a stewardship unto Him. Our goal is to be used of God to bring our children back to Him so they might respond to Him in faith...and as they do, to nurture them in the way of the Lord. What a blessing!
