OCTOBER 16 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: Psalm 119:73-80

When we have a living, vital relationship with the Lord it changes our perspective on His Word and on His commandments. We see them not as a burden, but as a delight. We follow God not so much out of duty, but because we know Him, we love Him; we want to be in the midst of what He is doing. It is certainly true that the Christian life has disciplines as part of it...Bible study, prayer, witnessing, serving. When we genuinely walk with the Lord our outlook on these things turn from just a sense of duty, to looking at them as a wonderful privilege.

Have you ever thought how awesome it really is that the Lord would use you or me in anything? As we grow in Him we see all that He has done all for us and continues to do through us, as He accomplishes His marvelous work. How wonderful it would be if we walked so close to the Lord that His Word and His work were as much a part of who we are as is our breathing. And our hearts became so overwhelmed at the thought that He would allow us to join Him in what He is doing, that we no longer considered it duty, but we delighted in the fact that He has chosen us...He has changed us...and He blesses us with Himself and His beautiful Word and way!
