NOVEMBER 8 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: ROMANS 6:5-11
Salvation is not determined by our emotions or how we feel about it. Our salvation is determined by the promise of God. When God declares something, it is true. So, though our salvation and what God does in it, can touch our emotions and feelings, the final determinate on whether we have salvation is what God says. Our words do not have the power to create anything...they do influence, they do impact, they can hurt or help...but they do not create. Only God has the power to create things with His words...in the beginning He spoke the universe into existence and when time comes to an end, it will be by His Word that all ceases to be. God's Word is all powerful, because it comes from Him. Our minds can never fully comprehend the power of God's Word. When God says something it is eternally so!
So what does God Word say about our salvation? "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me." It further says, "He who believes on the Son has life..." It continues to say, "These things I have written to you that you, may know that you have eternal life..." It promises that, "Those who have the Son, have life..." And it says emphatically, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." When we come to God by the power of the Holy Spirit and by faith put our trust in Him through His Son Jesus, God says we are saved. Once God has declared something there is nothing that can change it – it is so! So today and every day if you are saved, you are by the very Word of God. It is not about how you feel, but about what He has promised. And whatever He has promised is true. Therefore, you and I need to stand confidently on the promise of our God!
