NOVEMBER 25 READING…AMOS 5-7 & ACTS 14
God gives Amos visions of what was about to come upon Israel. These visions came with strong warnings to only put trust in the Lord…of course Israel refuse to heed the word of the Lord. God warned them of an attitude that they could rest in their own security, and worldly alliances. Don’t trust in your government, and don’t put your security in other governments. Seems we need this spoken to people today, wait…it is being spoken and just like Old Testament Israel, people are ignoring the word of the Lord. Amos warned those who scoffed at even the thought of the day of judgement coming…much like people scoff today about it coming. He warned them of their drunkenness…and told them that He abhorred their pride. Listen…the Lord still hates drunkenness, and abhors pride. Yet, these two run rampant in our land, and even in many of our churches. In Acts Paul continues his ministry…in some places he gets a great response…but in places like Derbe they want to stone him to death. Paul stayed the course because it was God’s call on his life. Sometimes, all you have is the call…if God called you to anything don’t give up because there is opposition and difficulties…know they will come, and do what the Lord has called you to do.
Please share your thoughts.
