NOVEMBER 25 READING…1 JOHN 5
If we say that Jesus is the main emphasis and point of the Scriptures, we must also say that salvation is the result of the Lord giving the Scriptures. John wants us to know whether or not we have salvation from a biblical perspective. After all, that is the only perspective that matters, since Scripture is the Word of God. John tells us that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ, born of God, and everyone who loves Him has salvation. To believe is more than believing that He exist, it is putting your life into His care…fully trusting Him. The evidence that we know Him is that we have a God given desire to follow the Lord’s commands. Jesus birth and death both testify that He is Messiah. On this earth it is the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ birth, and Jesus’ death that testify that He is the Christ. In heaven the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit testify that Jesus is the only Savior. This being true, those who have Jesus have eternal life…those that don’t have the Jesus do not have life. John wrote this epistle so that we would KNOW we have salvation through Jesus.
Because we are God’s own children through His Son Jesus, God hears and answers our prayers. We also have great care for our fellow believers in Jesus. So much so that we become accountable to one another as members of the family, we are to pray for one another, especially when one is weak. Our relationship with God through Jesus never leads us to sin, but to righteousness. We are called to holiness, and to refrain from any kind of idolatry.
Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
