NOVEMBER 2 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: NUMBERS 14:1-10
There is an old saying, "If you know no opposition, it's because you stand for nothing!" There is not a person in the world that has made a difference and stood for something that has not had opposition. As a matter, of fact it can be stated with certainty that if you believe and stand for something, it is guaranteed that you will face opposition. And it seems the greater the cause or purpose for which you stand, the greater the opposition. In Jesus' life he faced great opposition from the elite of His day. As a matter of fact, most would have assumed that those who gave Him the greatest amount of opposition should have been those who were looking for Him and glad that He came. Jesus came with a purpose that did not fit in to the religious atmosphere and agenda of that day...so they greatly opposed Him and sought to kill Him.
Jesus told His disciples and He tells us, that we can expect the world and even the religionists, to stand against us if we follow Him. We can expect no different treatment than they gave Jesus. It is the methodology of the enemy to strongly oppose those who are faithfully and powerfully following Christ. The devil believes by using various means to turn up the heat, it will cause us to give “up” and to quit. The Bible tells us that just the opposite should be true...that it is in the fires of spiritual conflict, persecution and opposition that we are refined and actually made stronger. If as you walk in Christ and His truth, being involved in His Kingdom purpose, you face strong opposition, don't become discouraged and stop...know it's going to come, know it will strengthen you, know that God is using you to touch eternity for His glory!
