NOVEMBER 14, 2022 ~ 52 WEEKS THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

NOVEMBER 14 READINGS…1 PETER 4

Jesus has suffered for us in His flesh, that we no longer have to give in to sin and temptation. Jesus has made it possible for us to walk in righteousness. We don’t have to sin…we choose to sin. When we give into our flesh, we sin. When we resist, grieve, and quench the Holy Spirit…we sin. When we think we no longer need God, but can do it on our own…we sin. It’s time for us to realize that we have spent far too long living in the world like those who do not know the Lord…and start living like we are the redeemed followers of Christ.

Hopefully we realize that we are coming to the end of humanity and soon Jesus will return. How should we live? Peter tells us. We should be watching and praying. We ought to have fervent love for one another. We ought to be hospitable, without grumbling. We ought to be walking in and administering the gift that God has given us. We ought to speak the words of God. And we ought to be ministering to one another. In other words, we ought to be doing what we should have been doing all along. As we live in this godless and God hating world we should not think it strange the fiery trials that we will face. We know where this is all headed, and we hoped that it would all come to an end in the distant future…but what is we are the ones the Lord has chosen to go through these times? Be careful, that when you suffer or put upon…let it be because you are following Jesus, and not because of some evil you have done.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
