NOVEMBER 10 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: LUKE 12:35-48
The Lord came to change us from the inside-out. Too often we believe that it is a system that changes people or that ultimately makes a difference. However, it is not the system...but the character and integrity of the people within the system that make the difference. To be sure there are systems that are better than others, but it is not the systems by themselves that can make people better...it is people of character and integrity that make the system and ultimately the world better. This is true of religious systems, political systems and economic systems. This is true of every system and movement of man. You can have the worst system and within it have people of character and integrity and they will make it work. In contrast, you can have the best system filled with corrupt, ungodly people and they will destroy the system and everything they touch.
This is why God has not called us to a system, but to a relationship with Him through His Son. We have brothers and sisters all around the world and in our own country that live in different political, economic and even religious systems. The Lord is blessing them and using them, because they have been touched by Him, they have been changed by Him. They walk in biblical integrity and with God given character in the midst of whatever system they are in and they are making a difference for the Kingdom of God. It also is true that there are some who are involved in every system known to man, that have rejected the Lord. They are filled with corruption and evil intent and they bring themselves and others down to destruction. We were never called to trust in systems, but to trust only in Jesus. Only Jesus can give what we desperately need in this time. He changes us from the inside-out. He gives us character and integrity as we submit and follow Him. We were placed here to make a difference in the kingdoms of men for the Kingdom of God...that becomes impossible if we don't walk in integrity.
