MAY 6 READING…JUDGES 5-6 & PSALM 121
To praise is to acknowledge God and all His marvelous works. Proper praise puts things into proper perspective. In Judges, Deborah and Barak praised the Lord for His mighty victory over Sisera, the commander of Jaben’s army. The praise was not for their mighty deeds, but for the miracles that God did that day. This major work of God brought peace in the land for forty years. We could use a mighty work of God among us…let’s begin to praise Him for who He is, and all He has done…and just maybe, we will see peace in the land. After the forty years of peace the Israelites did evil in the sight of the Lord…as they went after false gods. Gideon was called by God to be judge of Israel, and God promised Gideon that He would bring victory to Israel over the Midianites. Gideon wanted to make sure that it was God’s message and purpose, so he put out a fleece…which God answered and affirmed His plan to Gideon. In Psalms we are reminded that it is the Lord that is our help…the One who made heaven and earth. He doesn’t sleep…He is our keeper…He preserves us from evil. For who He is and all He does…let the Lord be praised!
