MAY 4 READING…JUDGES 1-2 & PSALMS 50
The Lord is faithful even when His people fail…and it is a guaranteed that we will fail. The Lord has made a covenant with His people, that He will keep…even if the people fail, but there will be consequences for their disobedience. Their failure to obey God will bring His correction. In Judges the Lord sets judges among the people. This corrected the actions of Israel for the time the judges ruled, but soon after, they fell back into disobedience. It seems people don’t learn that it is costly to live in disobedience to the Lord. The psalmist tells us that the Lord is the Judge of all. He is the Mighty One. He is perfect and holy, and His light shines from His throne. Though people think they can sin with impunity…the Lord will judge. We are called to live in His truth, His way…and to live in disobedience will result in God’s judgment being poured out.
