MAY 26 READING…1 SAMUEL 30-31 & PSALM 18
Death is a reality of our human existence. Except for the rapture, each one of us will leave this world through the veil of death…it’s inescapable. The question is who have we trusted in this life? Trust requires more than verbal affirmation. It also requires more than a “sorry”, simply because we got caught. It is clear that Saul had little real trust in God…he trusted Samuel to an extent, he trusted the occult, but most of all he trusted himself. This is the real problem of mankind. We trust ourselves…that wrong trust manifest itself in us running after everything, but God. Saul lost it all…his family slaughtered, because he refused to trust in God. The kind of trust that changes one’s heart and life. The Psalmist calls God his strength, his rock, his fortress, and his deliverer. He declares that his trust is in God. When a persons trust is in God, whatever happens, whether good or bad, that person has a refuge and a hope. Our only hope in this life, and when this life comes to an end, is in God alone.
