MAY 13, 2025 ~ FROM A PASTOR'S HEART

MAY 13 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING:  1 SAMUEL 1:12-27

Our children are a blessing from the Lord! There is something special about a mother's love for her children. Long before they ever draw their first breath, Mom is there praying for them and all that they will be. I remember reading what my daughter said about her baby who was still a few months from being born, “I never realized I could love someone so much, who I haven't even met yet!" And it has been amazing to watch both my daughter and my daughter-in-law love on their girls. What great mothers they both are. God created mothers to be something extra special in the life of their children. They are their children's first doctor...their first teacher...their first friend...the first one to love them unconditionally. There is nothing on this earth like a mother's love!

Hannah prayed to the Lord for a child and promised the Lord that she would give that child back to Him. God answered her prayer and blessed her with Samuel. Hannah kept her promise and gave him back to the Lord and God used him in a great way in His Kingdom's work. God then blessed Hannah with many more children. Hannah was a mother who not only loved her children, but she had a deep love for the Lord. God used that in Samuel's early years to prepare him for the work he would do in his life. It is the good Christian mothers who love both their children and God, that nurture and teach their children to know the Lord. Their greatest teaching method is the example of their godly life and how they follow the Lord. There is nothing more special than a mother's love and there is nothing more wonderful than a mother's faith.
