MAY 12 READING…JUDGES 18-19 & 2 PETER 2
We live in a time where people seem to think that true doctrine and truth have little importance. They feel there are no real casualties when these two things are cast aside. This is a dangerous philosophy…for when God’s Word, and His truth are reject destruction always follows. Spiritual destruction leads to moral decay…which leads to the devaluation of human life…which leads to the killing of innocents, along with unrestrained murder in our streets…which ultimately leads to eternal destruction. The tribe of Dan went off into idolatry, and it destroyed them…but along the way their idolatry harm many people. The ungodliness and debauchery of the men of Gibeah led to the violent rape and murder of a Levite’s concubine…this led to the slaughter of all the men of Gibeah. Peter tells us to be watchful of destructive doctrines, for they bring doom upon all who receive and believe them. They come from those who are already doomed, and their source is from the depraved, they are filled with deception. These are the kind of people celebrated in our culture, and in many of our churches. Be warned, we are bringing destruction upon ourselves. I know there is not much “positive” in today’s reading…but here is what is positive, stay with the Lord and His Word, for they bring life!
