MAY 10 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PROVERBS 3:1-18

Life is filled with decisions. Which one of us has the wisdom to make the proper decision in every situation and circumstance of life? Many times, we need advice to help us clarify our options in order to make the most prudent decision we can. There are many factors that play into our decision making and there are many people that we have to take into consideration. Where do you go first when you have a decision to make? Whose advice do you seek and whose voice do you listen to? It seems to make sense to us to find someone who has our best interests at heart when seeking advice and direction. It also seems wise to find someone who has lived life and has the experience to help us make our decision. Certainly, we would want to hear from someone who has a track record of wise choices in their own life, in order that they might speak that wisdom into our life. Life is filled every day with decisions that we need to make and most of us want to make the right decision for ourselves and for those we love.

If we are looking for the best and most perfect person to ask for direction and whose advice we can trust, there is none better to speak to than the Lord. The Lord loves us and He always has our best interest at heart. Everything God does is good and right and it has been this way from eternity past. The Lord is the very personification of wisdom, and He promises if we ask, He will give us His wisdom. Sadly, for way too many followers of Jesus, asking Him is not the thing we do firsthand. Sometimes it is the last thing we do after we have made all kinds of poor decisions. Faith does not move ahead on its own. Faith is not making a decision then asking God for His blessing. Biblical faith seeks God first, listens to God, implements what God says, and then follows God through the whole situation and circumstance. It makes sense that we would seek God's direction and follow His Word in all things, for He is the only one who has all the information needed to make the best decision in all things.
