MAY 1 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: PSALM 145
Every day we each need to have a time where we just spend some time praising the Lord for the great and wonderful God that He is. Praise to God is so important and sometimes we relegate this part of our relationship with Him to our singing. To be sure singing is a wonderful way to praise the Lord, but it is not the only way. Praise is an attitude of the soul and the heart of the follower of Jesus. In praise, we under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge our gratitude and our awe to God for who He is and for all that He has done. Praise makes sense to the individual who knows that they were created by and for God and that God has redeemed us out of sin and brought us into His family. When you know God, I mean really know God; you cannot help but praise Him!
We praise God for who He is...He is God and God alone. He is the all-powerful Creator. He is the merciful and gracious Father. He is consistently good and incredibly caring. He is all patient, kind and He is love. The pen cannot write all that God is, for where you stop writing God is still more! We praise God for what He has done and is doing. He is ever present to be our hope and our comfort...He is working in our lives bringing about His perfect will in all areas. He is securing every promise that He has made to us, His children. He is working in ways we cannot see now, but it will be revealed in eternity, and He has and is providing salvation through His Son Jesus and by the work of His Holy Spirit. No man can measure and record all the things that God is doing and has done. We who are saved have every reason to praise God. He is deserving of all our praise and much more! Each day, all day long, praise the God of your salvation...for He is worthy!
