MARCH 8, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE
MARCH 8 READING…NUMBERS 11-12 & 2 TIMOTHY 2
In our reading today, we see the reality of the fact that people grumble and complain when they don’t get everything they want or think they deserve. Moses had to deal with this from the people who complained when the manna was not enough…and when his own brother and sister complained about what they saw as a lack of leadership on Moses part. Had it not been for Moses interceding for the people and his own siblings, and the grace of God...they would have all been destroyed. In the book of 2 Timothy, Timothy had to deal with opposition to the true message of the Gospel and proper biblical teaching. He had two in the church who tried to stir up trouble with their incorrect and false teachings. Paul called them a cancer in the church body. Paul told Timothy that these false teachers and their teachings needed to be shunned. This was in order for the church to stay clean, and for the people to stay holy before God. Don’t be surprised that there will always be grumblers…these types of people are incapable of being satisfied, even from God. They are not servants of God, nor are they beneficial to the church. We need to make sure we are not grumblers who tear down…but Spirit led people who edify the church.
