MARCH 7, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

MARCH 7 READING…LUKE 5

Jesus did not come to keep the status quo. In Luke 5 He shakes things up. Instead of going to the nearest religious school of training He goes to fisherman, tax collectors, and even zealots to call His disciples. These common men would be used of God to establish His church on the earth. Jesus then touched a leper and healed the man. Incredibly, Jesus was actually willing to touch a man that had probably not felt the touch of a human hand for a very long time. All this leper knew was scorn and living life as an outcast, having to warn people to stay away from him. Jesus then dared to tell a paralytic man that his sins were forgiven. This really upset the religious elite. Jesus then does the unthinkable when He sits down and has dinner with sinners…the tax collectors. Jesus wraps all these up in a parable about new wine in old wineskins…the old wineskins cannot hold the new wine. Jesus did not come to keep the status quo…He came to do a new thing. “Behold the old has past away…Jesus has made all things new”.
