MARCH 29, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

MARCH 29 READING…LUKE 21

There is a difference between giving a large amount and giving everything you have. When Jesus was at the temple during Passion week He saw the rich putting their offerings in the collection box, and He saw a widow place two mites (very small copper coins) in the offering box. Jesus did not condemn anyone who gave, but He did use this occasion to teach about giving to God. With God giving is not measured by the value of the offering, but the sacrifice of the offering. On this Good Friday, the Lord showed this as He gave His all for us on the cross. To the world He was just another dead man who crossed Rome…but to the Father He is the one and only Son who gave everything so that we might have everything. Jesus used the rest of the time at the temple that day to speak of the things which were coming. The destruction of the temple and destruction of Jerusalem…which was fulfilled some 40 years later by Titus the Roman commander. Jesus also talked about His second coming, and the need to keep watching. And so, we wait expectantly, we wait as we work for His kingdom, and we cry out “Maranatha”!

Please share your thoughts.
