MARCH 27 READING…LUKE 19
Who is beyond redemption? Is there someone you know that you think has gone so far that they are beyond being forgiven and receiving the gift of eternal life? Are there any people that God cannot save? A small man named Zacchaeus was seen as unredeemable by the religious elite and most of the people of Israel…for he was a tax collector. Jesus didn’t see it the way of the religious elite or of the majority of Israelites, He rarely did. It has been a thought in the back of my mind about how many professing Christians believe that Jesus thinks just like they do, as if Jesus needs a renewal of His mind. Nowhere in the Scripture does it say that Jesus took on the mind of the majority of society, but it does say that we are to take on the mind of Christ. What should be important to us is not whether Jesus agrees with us, but that we agree with Jesus. After Jesus gives Zacchaeus salvation He leaves and heads for Jerusalem. On Sunday, Jesus enters Jerusalem on a colt…as a king would enter a city. The people are moved to celebrate the entry of Jesus as Messiah. Yet after Jesus drives the money changers out of the temple the tide of public opinion begins to change. You see they wanted a messiah who would think and act they way they wanted, not one who acts the way God called Him to. Jesus is who He is, and does what He does…you or I don’t have the authority to transform Him into what we desire Him to be, nor make Him do what we want Him to do.
Please share your thoughts.
