MARCH 25 DEVOTIONAL BIBLE READING: 2 TIMOTHY 3

In the day of "fake news" and "alternative facts,” this world needs the truth. We live in a time when if it is posted on the internet, written up in the newspaper, or seen on the evening news channel, we receive it as true without checking it out and without using any discernment. Even we Christians are guilty of reposting articles from our favorite news sites, never even considering whether their slanted message or clearly partisan view is actually factual. In doing so, we are doing just the opposite of what we are called to do. We are to spread the truth, not that which is false. The Lord detests a lying tongue, no matter where the lie originated. We need to ask if the source has an agenda, if the story is backed up by other reliable sources, is there any first-generation information that you might be able to read or listen to.

The world needs truth from those who claim to follow Jesus. There are ministries and ministers out there speaking about everything but the truth. Many have replaced the true Christ and His gospel with one they or their group has made up. There are those who would have you believe that if you have their kind of faith, you will have all the money you can believe you could have, that you will never have to be sick, and that your words carry the power in them to create your own reality. There are those who promote a Christ-less social gospel, and those who promote a "Christ" who doesn't care about the needs of the poor, the widows and the orphans. There are those who say their truth supersedes God's truth. So they reject the Lord's declared truth and live ungodly lifestyles, teach unbiblical doctrine and deny the fundamentals of the Christian faith. God's Word is truth. Jesus is the Truth. The Holy Spirit bears witness to the truth. We are called not to walk, live and speak from a place of virtual reality, fake news, alternative facts, but from the truth that God has given! Today and everyday walk in His truth...speak His truth...live His truth!
