MARCH 21 READING…LUKE 15
Incredibly, I have people tell me that they are not lost, and have no need of Jesus to save them. In our reading today Jesus gives three parables of people who are lost. The Lord cares that apart from Him humanity is hopelessly lost. Jesus reminds us that the Lord’s concern is for each individual. Sometimes it seems overwhelming when we think about how we are going to reach the world…the answer is we reach them the way Jesus and His disciples reached them, one person at a time. There is no such thing as group salvation, every single person who will be saved must come to Christ individually. So when we consider the lost, keep in mind that one precious soul that the Holy Spirit puts before you. How precious is that soul? Jesus tells us it’s like a woman who has ten coins, but loses one. So, she sweeps her house and looks for it, and when she finds it she is overwhelmed with joy. The Lord tells us that is how the angels react, with great joy, when a lost person comes to faith. Then Jesus shows us the heart of our Heavenly Father. He is waiting on His lost children to return…everyday He is waiting to see if they will come home. He waits with anticipation, for He longs to put His robe on their back, and His ring on their finger. He longs to celebrate over His child who was lost finding their way home. What a beautiful picture of the heart of God.
